We offer a dozen domestic species, with our most popular selections in inventory as lumber ready to run, and others we bring in as needed. Our Exotic hardwood flooring options include many exciting species with popular selections from our high-standard Brazilian mill partner often readily available in stock. For Exotic hardwoods in wider widths, longer lengths, or lesser common species, we bring in the lumber as needed and those floors are made-to-order just as our domestic hardwood floors.

Solid or Engineered? There is a science involved in making this decision correctly, that is not clearly understood among consumers or even many industry professionals. There are pros and cons to each, and depending on your climate, site conditions, species, cut, and width selections, either one could be strongly favored over the other. Neither is always the right answer, and we will help you make this decision based on real data, not common misconceptions.

In our Domestic species we offer Clear Grade which contains no knots or other forms of character, and very minimal color variation. Our Natural Grade can contain small to medium solid knots, other forms of light character, and moderate color variation. Character Grade can include larger knots, other moderate character, and more color variation. Rustic Grade is offered on a very limited basis and will contain larger knots, knot holes, other heavy character, and unlimited color variation. If you want something different, select Desired Appearance and specify in notes.

Over the years, our average plank widths have grown wider as design preferences have changed, and modern construction methods have made it easier to accommodate them. Today, 6-1/4″ to 8-1/4″ widths are among our most popular offerings. The range offered in our quote request form covers more than 95% of what our clients purchase, but extra-wide planks are possible in certain circumstances. Multiple width combinations are also quite popular if you want a simple way to add interest to your floor.

We are proud to offer many artistic textures which can be selected individually or combined. Hand crafted by traditional methods, the labor of our Amish craftsmen is visible in every contour of the wood. It’s the perfect way to add old world charm to your home. The textures offered in our quote request form can be further tailored to your preference of light, medium, or heavy. Perhaps most importantly, our artistic textures alleviate the worry of inevitable wear in a busy home which is most visible on a flat smooth surface. Pennington Hardwoods offers conventional, cerused, and reactive stains for those seeking to enhance or adjust the wood’s natural color. While solid stains are available, we recommend subtle changes that preserve the authentic beauty and variation of real hardwood. We provide industry leading finish options applied with a state-of-the-art finishing line, by Amish craftsmen who put care and pride into their work. All of our finishes are UV cured and our dedication to quality is evident in the beauty and versatility of the finishing services we offer. For simplicity, described herein are our essential finishing options that satisfy over 95% of the projects that we finish. We offer the popular Woca Oil and Rubio Oil finishes, and a premium 100% solid high-clarity urethane, enhanced with aluminum oxide to increase abrasion resistance to impressive levels.
